Laundry Operator Job Description

The Laundry Operator is responsible for washing, drying, folding, and pressing clothing, linens, and other textile items. They must operate and maintain laundry machines and ensure items are cleaned according to company standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate washing machines, dryers, and pressing machines.
  • Loading and unloading laundry from machines in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Adjusting machine settings based on fabric type and load size.
  • Sorting linens, clothing, and other laundry items by color, fabric, and washing instructions.
  • Identifying items that require special treatment or dry cleaning.
  • Inspecting laundry for stains, tears, or damage and reporting these to supervisors.
  • Applying appropriate stain removers or special washing techniques.
  • Safely using detergents, bleaches, fabric softeners, and other chemicals.
  • FOLLOWING all safety protocols for handling chemicals and machines.
  • Ensuring the laundry area is clean and organized at all times.
  • Regularly cleaning and maintaining laundry machines and related equipment.
  • Folding and pressing laundered items neatly and according to company standards.
  • Ensuring linens and clothing are wrinkle-free and well-presented.

Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Operating Machines: Proficient in operating industrial laundry equipment including washing machines, dryers, and pressing machines.
  • Loading/Unloading: Able to load/unload laundry from machines efficiently and effectively.
  • Fabric Knowledge: Familiar with different types of fabrics and their specific washing requirements.
  • Chemical Handling: Safe handling of chemicals used in laundry operations.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative mindset to work as part of a team.
  • Adaptability: Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
