Job Description

As a Laboratory Despatch Driver, you will play a critical role in the smooth operation of our laboratory services. Your primary responsibility will be to provide daily despatch services to the Blood Bank, Referral Laboratories and all clinics outside the hospital.

Responsibilities include performing scheduled and urgent trips to Referral Laboratories and the Blood Bank to deliver and collect blood products and laboratory samples. You will also assist the hospital's main pharmacy with the collection of medication from other hospitals when necessary. Additionally, you will ensure all laboratory sample collection requests are completed within the same day during working hours, respond promptly to emergency laboratory collections and despatch requests, coordinate despatch duties collaboratively with team members to maintain an efficient workflow and optimise productivity, and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all despatch activities.

Furthermore, you will ensure the despatch vehicle (van and motorcycle) is properly maintained and kept in good working condition at all times, return the van key to the Blood Bank section at the end of each day, and top up cash card (for dispatch vehicle) as and when it is necessary. You may also be required to undertake other duties as requested by the Laboratory Manager/ Laboratory Technologist.
