Job Description

The position of Specimen Management Associate plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient receipt, processing, and storage of patient specimens.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with the intake of consignments and shipments, opening packages, and conducting thorough quality checks of patient information forms to guarantee accuracy and attention to detail.

Key responsibilities also include shipping specimens for long-term storage or clients, handling the receipt of compounds and control materials (dependent on functional area), supporting after-hours alarm systems, and performing various administrative duties as required.

Additionally, this role demands strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the intake of consignments and shipments
  • Open packages and conduct thorough quality checks of patient information forms
  • Ensure specimens are properly processed and not left in kit packaging
  • Dispose of or recycle kit shipping supplies appropriately
  • Ship specimens for long-term storage or clients
  • Handle the receipt of compounds and control material (dependent on functional area)
  • Support after-hours alarm systems
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar role is preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
