
Governance Risk Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly effective leader to join our Governance, Risk and Compliance Team.
In this role, you will support the team as a subject matter expert responsible for leading complex initiatives, developing advanced solutions, and providing expert advice across the organization.
Main Responsibilities- Provide in-depth analysis and expert advice on specific GRC domains (e.g., financial compliance, operational risk).
- Develop, implement, and enhance policies, procedures, and controls, ensuring they are robust, efficient, and aligned with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
- Design and implement solutions for complex or emerging risk areas, especially those related to government funds.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments, including scenario analysis and impact assessments, to identify potential threats to the organization's objectives and resources.
- Develop mitigation strategies and control enhancements, working collaboratively with various teams to ensure effective implementation.
- Monitor and analyze key risk indicators and control self-assessments, providing insights and recommendations for proactive management.
- Perform comprehensive monitoring activities, including detailed reviews of transactions, processes, and documentation to ensure adherence to internal policies, external regulations, and grant agreements.
- Recommend follow-up actions on audits, ensuring accuracy and compliance with grant terms.
- Lead or support investigations into complex breaches, cases, or failures, ensuring thoroughness, objectivity, and timely resolution.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans based on investigation findings, tracking their effectiveness.
- Identify opportunities for process re-engineering and automation within the GRC function to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and data integrity.
- Enhance efficiency and foster collaboration through a more proactive and integrated approach across all functions.
- Drive projects aimed at improving systems, tools, and reporting capabilities.
- Develop and improve training materials, document case studies, and share best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, agencies, and teams.
- Prepare high-quality reports and presentations with actionable insights and recommendations for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Administration, Law, or a related field. A Master's degree or advanced certifications are highly desirable.
- Minimum 6-9 years of experience in a GRC-related role, with a proven track record of leading complex projects or acting as a subject matter expert.
- Demonstrated deep expertise in at least one core GRC domain.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in conducting investigations and developing remediation plans.
- Familiarity with non-profit governance, government grant frameworks, and relevant regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive initiatives to completion.
