We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team at Wilmar International Limited. As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for engineering and optimizing microorganisms such as yeast for the production of industrial chemicals.

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop and optimize microorganisms for cost-effective production of industrial chemicals;
  • Design, plan, and conduct experiments to meet project deliverables;
  • Generate and analyze data, generate reports, and communicate project progress to team leads and collaborators;
  • Troubleshoot project issues as needed;
  • Stay up-to-date with project-related developments through literature and patent surveys;
  • Collaborate with academia and industry partners;
  • Deliver other duties and projects as delegated by the team lead or head of department.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Ph.D. in microbial strain engineering or a related field;
  • Experience with gene transcription, translation, and regulation, as well as metabolic pathway manipulation in microbial strains;
  • Hands-on experience with molecular cloning, genetic parts, microbial engineering, fermentation, and analytics;
  • A strong understanding of biochemical science and industrialization processes;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
