Key Responsibilities

The Technical Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring the effective implementation and monitoring of company policies related to Health, Safety, Security, Environment, and Quality Assurance (HSEQA) on fleet vessels. This includes advising the Corporate Compliance Manager and Designated Person Ashore in writing of any information related to the vessel or crew's inability to comply with environmental measures and marine protection requirements.

The successful candidate will maintain contact with various organizations, including classification societies, shipyards, repair firms, industry groups, trade associations, equipment manufacturers, and government bodies, to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Projecting realistic annual operating budgets for vessels, taking into account statutory, flag, and port requirements, and obtaining timely approval from owners.
  • Complying with budgetary allocations for vessels by regular monitoring and taking suitable actions to avoid negative variance.
  • Monitoring inventory control of stores and spares, performance of vessels, compliance with health, safety, security, and pollution prevention regulations, certification status of vessels, and ensuring that vessels are maintained in seaworthy condition and trading certificates are valid.
  • Carrying out routine vessel inspections, dry-docking, and major repairs in coordination with principals, making cost comparisons of various yards and repairers in the most efficient manner.
  • Ensuring that all technical reports required by various principals are timely dispatched.
  • Monitoring and timely correcting all deficiencies/defects that exist in vessels and ensuring immediate corrective action is taken for any major defect to prevent jeopardizing vessel performance and safety.
  • Maintaining vessel preparedness at all times to comply with Port State Control and Oil Majors by close monitoring and review of vessel conditions in line with VIQ requirements.
  • Overseeing the regular checking of items pertaining to health, safety, security, and pollution prevention to achieve high standards of safe and pollution-free voyages and the general well-being of all on board vessels.
  • Monitoring and ensuring resource allocation by regular review of work and rest hours of personnel on board and taking suitable steps to conform to compliance with Company's Work and Rest Hours Policy.
  • Verifying all incoming reports from vessels and identifying areas requiring immediate attention and taking corrective actions.
  • Closely monitoring the performance of all vessels and ensuring that all Charter Party requirements are being fulfilled, identifying reasons for deviation if any, and taking remedial measures.
  • Preparing all necessary documentation pertaining to Hull and Machinery and P & I insurance claims for vessels under their charge and forwarding same to the Principals and/or the Insurance division for processing of claims.
  • Carrying out periodical inspections of vessels and subsequently preparing a detailed report and formulating an up-gradation plan and following up with the vessels.
  • Preparing repair specifications and coordinating with various repair firms for effecting major repairs and dry-docking.
  • Monitoring survey status and certification status of vessels and ensuring surveys/inspections are arranged in time to maintain validity of all certificates.
  • Using PHOENIX, Company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, to discharge the above-listed responsibilities and keep all vessel's records updated on the system.

  • Highly motivated and experienced individuals in managing Tanker vessels as Technical Superintendents.
  • Individuals with prior sailing experience onboard tanker vessels as Chief Engineers will be an advantage.
  • Individuals with sound technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Individuals with good administrative, planning, and implementation skills.
  • Individuals with the ability to demonstrate good time management, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Individuals must be fluent in English and possess good English writing skills.
  • Computer literacy is a must.
