The SMBC Group is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Finance Executive to join our team in Asia. This role will play a crucial part in shaping the future of our private credit fund, focusing on infrastructure investments.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to create and acquire platforms, as well as coordinating origination and asset management activities.
Key Responsibilities:- Strategy Implementation: Assist in refining our strategy for creating a private credit fund focused on infrastructure investments, and lead the implementation process by acquiring existing platforms or establishing joint ventures with partners.
- Origination and Asset Management: Support in pitching and originating new deals, coordinate execution, and manage assets related to infrastructure debt arranging activities.
- Market Development: Develop and maintain client relationships aligned with our sector and market strategy, identifying opportunities for project finance and acquisition financing.
- Risk Management and Compliance: Ensure adherence to SMBC's compliance and risk management policies, setting an example for junior staff and acting as a Compliance Assistant for the team.
- (Potential) Secondment/Transfer: Potentially seconded or transferred to the created or acquired platform.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A university degree or higher.
- No less than 7 years of relevant working experience.
- Experience in assisting senior team members in pitching for new deals.
- Strong background in loan credit preparation and processes.
- Expertise in loan and security arrangements preparation and execution, preferably in infrastructure credit/debt funds or subordinated financing.
- Past experience in capital and business alliances or M&A as an advisor or principal would be advantageous.
- Excellent financial modeling and legal documentation skills.
- Proficiency in computer software such as word processing, spreadsheet analysis, and presentation tools.
- Able to take leadership roles and collaborate effectively with peers from other departments, juniors within the resource pool, and external parties like peer banks and consultants.
- A team player with strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
