**Clinical Coder Role Summary**
This position involves the interpretation of medical records and performing DRG coding for inpatient discharges and procedures done from Day Surgery, Dental and Endoscopy accurately within the required timeframe.
The successful candidate will be able to liaise with doctors and other healthcare professionals on clinical coding matters and support relevant administrative functions in the department.
Main Responsibilities:
- To complete DRG coding accurately and efficiently.
- To achieve 100% turnaround time for casemix coding within 14 days with an error rate less than 4%.
- To seek clarifications from clinicians for unsure cases and highlight any incomplete or missing medical records required for DRG coding.
- To assist in providing required DRG codes and/or clarifications required by CPFB and/or insurance companies within the given timeframe.
- To perform basic internal audits to ensure coding accuracy is at an acceptable level.
Requirements:
- Foreign MBBS, Nursing or Healthcare related degrees or Diploma in Nursing or equivalent.
- Prior experience in coding in a hospital setting is preferred.
- Meticulous, independent, good team player and thorough; good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc).
- Good ICD-10-CM knowledge.
