Tile Installation Specialist

The role of a tile installer involves the meticulous placement and finishing of tiles on floors and walls in various settings.
Main Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate installation of tiles by utilizing levels, squares, and straightedges
- Determine the most suitable layout to achieve a desired pattern and implement it accordingly
- Cut and shape tile to fit around obstacles and into odd spaces and corners using hand and power cutting tools
- Fully dress joints and remove excess grout from between tiles using a damp sponge
- Apply adhesive to tile back, position the tile, and firmly press or tap with a trowel handle to secure the tile to the base
- Mix, apply, and spread plaster, concrete, mortar, cement, mastic, glue, or other adhesives to form a bed for the tiles using a brush, trowel, and screed
- Create detailed estimates based on calculations of time and materials needed for the project
- Measure and mark surfaces to be tiled following blueprints
- Lay and allow concrete to dry
- Build underbeds and install anchor bolts, wires, and brackets
- Prepare surfaces for tiling by attaching lath or waterproof paper or applying a cement mortar coat onto a metal screed
