AI Research Scientist

This role offers a unique opportunity to advance the field of artificial intelligence, focusing on machine learning and its applications in autonomous vehicles. Our team is working on developing cutting-edge technologies that enable self-driving vehicles to navigate complex real-world traffic scenarios.

About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional AI researcher with a strong background in machine learning to join our team. As an AI research scientist, you will be responsible for designing, training, and analyzing neural networks for applications such as object detection, semantic/instance segmentation, visual classification, motion/gesture recognition, sensor fusion, multitask learning, motion prediction, and/or multi-object tracking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop novel machine learning algorithms and models to improve the performance of our autonomous vehicle systems.
  • Analyze and evaluate the performance of our AI systems, identifying areas for improvement and implementing data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate machine learning solutions into our autonomous vehicle software stack.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, well-documented code to ensure reproducibility and ease of maintenance.
  • Mentor and grow junior researchers and engineers, providing guidance and support to help them reach their full potential.

Requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field; or equivalent industry experience.
  • In-depth understanding of common machine learning and deep learning algorithms.
  • Experience designing, training, and analyzing neural networks for applications such as object detection, semantic/instance segmentation, visual classification, motion/gesture recognition, sensor fusion, multitask learning, motion prediction, and/or multi-object tracking.
  • Advanced knowledge of software engineering principles, including software design, source control management, build processes, code reviews, testing methods.
  • Fluency in Python, including standard scientific computing libraries and Python bindings development experience.
  • Experience with PyTorch or other deep learning frameworks.
  • Effectiveness at leading and executing large, complex technical initiatives.
  • Strong track record of tackling ambiguous problems, creating clarity from it, and driving it to successful outcomes.

A Day in the Life:

You will spend your days researching new machine learning techniques, collaborating with colleagues to integrate these techniques into our autonomous vehicle software, and mentoring junior researchers and engineers to help them grow in their careers.
