Job Title: Craft and Food Science Lab Support Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Craft and Food Science Lab Support Specialist.

Your primary responsibility will be to provide exceptional support to the Craft and Food Science Lab team, ensuring a seamless and efficient laboratory experience for students and staff.

You will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory, including daily cleaning tasks, scheduling thorough cleaning and organization of laboratory equipment and supplies, and restocking materials as needed.

In addition to these duties, you will assist the Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) unit with daily preparation tasks, work with NFS teachers to prepare food ingredients and necessary crockery/equipment, monitor stock levels, and maintain a high level of hygiene standards in the kitchen labs.

Other responsibilities include supporting the Staff Engagement Committee in the preparation of light meals, light desserts, snacks, and packing of staff welfare items, maintaining inventory of food ingredients, ensuring they are organized and properly stored, and performing any other duties assigned by school management.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a pleasant disposition, and the ability to work well under pressure. They will also possess a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment.

Requirements:
  • Completed Food Safety Course Level 1
  • Experience working with secondary school students
  • Experience working as a kitchen assistant in a school environment or commercial kitchen setting is preferred
  • Able to cook light meals, light desserts, and snacks
  • Able to read and converse well
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Pleasant disposition
Benefits:

  • One-year contract period with the option to extend for an additional year, subject to approval
