Data Analyst for Research Impact

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled data analyst to join our team and play a key role in driving the school's research impact and achievements.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing data analytics support to the Research Administration and Support Services Department, working closely with faculty and staff to derive and deliver reports on annualized grant income, research grant expenditure, and other key performance indicators.

  • Data Analytics

    • Derive and deliver quarterly reports on annualized grant income of the school to management.

    • Analyze research grant expenditure, reimbursement claims received, and indirect research costs collected by the school on a quarterly basis.

    • Perform multi-level data analyses related to research grants at the school, programme, and individual faculty levels.

    • Streamline and automate data collection and reporting processes where feasible to improve efficiency and minimize manual efforts.

    • Consolidate, clean, and harmonize data from various sources to ensure consistency and reliability across datasets.

    • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and data visualizations to support performance monitoring across departments and research programmes.

    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to strengthen data infrastructure and create tools that facilitate the tracking of research impact.

    • Evaluate and leverage platforms such as Altmetrics to capture non-traditional research impact metrics.

Management Reporting

  • Work closely with research programme directors and relevant teams to consolidate and articulate key research achievements for reporting to School Management, the Governing Board, and Board of Trustees.

  • Track, collate, and synthesize updates from faculty and the wider research community, including media coverage, publication highlights, awards, and other key milestones.

  • Assist in preparing the Dean's Management Report (quarterly) and the School's Annual Report and Publication, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.

  • Organize and support research programme meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, documenting minutes, and following up on action items.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in data analysis and visualization using tools such as Power BI or Tableau. They will also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds.

The role requires a high degree of autonomy, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities. The successful candidate will be able to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and demonstrate a commitment to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
