We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to join our team as a Tenure-Track Professor in Geography Education at Nanyang Technological University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and conducting research in the field of geography education, with a focus on developing and implementing innovative teaching methods and curricula.
Key Responsibilities- Teach geography education courses to undergraduate and graduate students, including supervision of student teachers in their teaching practice in school and supervision of graduate research and coursework students.
- Develop and lead in implementing strategies for professional development in geography education for in-service teachers in Singapore.
- Conduct research in the area of geography education, including applying for grants and publishing in reputable journals or other outlets in the field of geography education.
- Establish professional connections with local and international researchers and practitioners in geography education.
- Share expertise with NIE colleagues through various platforms.
- Assist in administrative work in the Department and in NIE.
- A doctorate in Geography Education from an internationally acclaimed institution at the time of appointment.
- Specialization in any of the following areas: geography teacher education, teacher professional development, curriculum development, classroom and field-based pedagogies, assessment and evaluation in geography.
- A good track record in research, including publications with high-ranking journals and presses, or a promising trajectory in research and publication for early career scholars.
- A good track record of teaching, preferably at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Familiarity with the Singapore Geography curriculum and the Singapore education system would be highly advantageous.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and technology skills and dedication to academic teaching excellence and collegiality.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a team of experienced educators and researchers in the field of geography education, and to contribute to the development of innovative teaching methods and curricula.
