Commodity Procurement Specialist

A strategic commodity procurement specialist is responsible for achieving cost savings and ensuring a beneficial supply base. This involves developing and implementing commodity strategies, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing the supply chain.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Commodity Management: Develop and implement global commodity strategies, focusing on technology areas such as Mechatronics, Electronics, and Vision.
  • Supplier Development: Identify, assess, and develop suppliers using the QLTC methodology.
  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Analysis: Define TCO per module, create comprehensive business cases, align with stakeholders, and propose scenarios and decisions for senior management.
  • Sourcing Projects: Initiate and coordinate sourcing projects, collaborate with various departments, including R&D, Operations, Product, and regions.
  • Sourcing Strategy: Contribute to the preparation and definition of the company's Sourcing Strategy, support analysis and statistics, execute tasks according to defined strategy, and monitor execution using defined KPIs.
  • Supplier Selection and Qualification: Coordinate supplier selection, onboard, and qualify according to company processes, with emphasis on Asia content.
  • Supply Chain Optimization: Strive for establishing a cost- and quality-competitive global supply chain well integrated with operational and development processes.
  • Negotiations: Negotiate contracts with product and non-product suppliers, with support and agreement from VP Strategic Supply Management.
  • Price and Condition Negotiation: Negotiate prices and other conditions, including QLTC methodology and open costing.
  • Issue Resolution: Work with suppliers to agree on corrective actions to resolve escalated issues or look for alternative suppliers when necessary.
  • Coordination: Coordinate with local and global Material Management departments, Logistics, and Incoming Quality Control (IQC).
  • Purchasing Parameters: Ensure that all necessary purchasing parameters (vendor data, contracts) are given and stored properly and take appropriate actions whenever necessary.
  • Supply Chain Quality Improvement: Proactively improve the quality along the entire supply chain in close cooperation with relevant departments.
  • Market Information: Ensure the availability of up-to-date supply market information, focusing on Commodity Modules.

Process Responsibility
  • Supply Chain Processes: Work according to defined supply chain processes and use listed tools.
  • Supplier Selection and Development: Perform supplier selection and development activities.
  • Vendor Management: Build up and maintain a global supplier portfolio, execute supplier performance management.
  • Contract Management: Create and maintain a global contract system covering all types of suppliers, store contracts systematically.

Accountability
  • Key Supplier Relationships: Establish and maintain key supplier relationships.
  • Sourcing Strategy Contribution: Contribute to Sourcing Strategy in defined areas.
  • Supply Market Analysis: Conduct supply market analysis.
  • Vendor and Contract Management: Manage vendors and contracts effectively.
  • Cost Savings Achievement: Achieve best possible cost savings without compromising on quality, performance, and lead time.
