The role of Tax Business Partner in APAC is a strategic position responsible for embedding the group's tax strategy within the region, ensuring compliance with tax laws and managing risk. The Tax Business Partner will act as a trusted advisor to regional business leaders, finance teams, and legal counsel on new products, market entries, and re-organisations.
- Provide strategic insights and recommendations on the tax implications of business decisions, focusing on optimizing tax efficiency while maintaining compliance with local and international tax laws.
- Collaborate closely with the tax team and corporate tax function to ensure regional initiatives align with the overall group tax strategy and policies.
- Oversee and manage the tax compliance cycle for APAC entities, including corporate income tax, withholding tax, indirect taxes, and other local taxes.
- Monitor changes in APAC tax legislation and regulatory requirements, assessing their impact on the business and advising on necessary adjustments.
- Identify, assess, and manage tax risks within the region, developing and implementing strategies for mitigation.
- Manage and implement the group's transfer pricing policies for intercompany transactions across APAC entities.
- Advise on the tax implications of cross-border transactions, including permanent establishment risks and treaty application.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including regional business heads, country CFOs, legal teams, and external advisors.
- Provide leadership and guidance to in-country tax resources, fostering a cohesive and high-performing regional tax function.
Key qualifications include a professional accounting qualification, minimum 10-15 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have experience managing tax affairs across multiple APAC jurisdictions, knowledge of transfer pricing principles, and ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
