Research Fellow Position

We are seeking an exceptional Research Fellow to join our team at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The successful candidate will work on developing advanced path planning algorithms for multi-UAV systems in complex environments.


About the Role

This is a full-time appointment funded for approximately one year, with the possibility of extension. As a Research Fellow, you will be responsible for designing efficient obstacle avoidance strategies, implementing and validating algorithms in virtual and real-world scenarios, and contributing to cutting-edge research projects.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, with a focus on Path Planning, Multi-Robot Systems, or Autonomous Navigation
  • Strong research background in path planning, motion planning, and multi-robots coordination in complex environments
  • Proficiency in Python and C++, with extensive experience in ROS/ROS2 for robotic development
  • Familiarity with popular path planning algorithms such as RRT, A*, and optimization-based methods
  • Hands-on experience with simulation environments such as Gazebo and Unity3D
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English for research work
