About this role

  • Design APIs and abstraction layers that connect our software to real quantum devices, ensuring seamless integration between software and hardware components.
  • Test and optimize performance across the full software-to-hardware execution flow.
  • Collaborate with software teams to understand quantum program structures and execution requirements.
  • Work with hardware specialists to adapt the interface to the specific architecture and constraints of target quantum devices.
  • Contribute to integration, debugging, and validation of quantum programs on real or simulated hardware.
  • Participate in cross-team design discussions for the software-hardware toolchain.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Software-Hardware Interface Design: Develop API and abstraction layers to integrate software and hardware components seamlessly.
  2. Performance Optimization: Test and optimize performance across the software-to-hardware execution flow.
  3. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software teams to understand quantum program structures and execution requirements.
  4. Hardware Adaptation: Collaborate with hardware specialists to adapt the interface to specific architectures and constraints.
  5. Integration and Validation: Contribute to integration, debugging, and validation of quantum programs on real or simulated hardware.
  6. Toolchain Development: Participate in cross-team design discussions for the software-hardware toolchain.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong Software Engineering Skills: Proficiency in API design, integration layers, and software development methodologies.
  • Quantum Computing Concepts: Familiarity with quantum computing principles and basic understanding of quantum hardware architectures.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python (experience with C++ is a plus).
  • Collaboration and Communication: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Performance Profiling and Benchmarking: Experience with performance profiling, benchmarking, and optimization techniques.
  • Version Control and Agile Methodologies: Experience with version control tools (Git) and collaborative software development workflows.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Hardware Control Stacks: Familiarity with hardware control stacks for quantum computers.
  • Quantum Programming Frameworks: Familiarity with one or more quantum programming frameworks (Qiskit, Cirq, tket, Braket, etc.).
  • Hardware-Specific Knowledge: Understanding of hardware-specific constraints for superconducting, trapped-ion, photonic, or spin-qubit architectures.
