Job Summary

The role of the Learning Support Associate is to provide assistance to the main class teacher in managing a classroom of children.

  • Assist the main class teacher in planning and implementing programs for the class, ensuring they are aligned with educational guidelines.

  • Prepare and implement programs for children, incorporating learning strategies and developmental goals.

  • Work collaboratively with the main class teacher to manage challenging children using effective behavioral strategies.

  • Supervise mealtime behavior and play times, promoting a positive and engaging environment.

  • Support children with toileting needs and contribute to case conferences or discussion points.

  • Provide input on children's progress and assist with planning, sharing ideas with the team.

  • Develop and maintain records of children's development, evaluating their progress and making recommendations for improvement.

  • Administer basic first aid as necessary and maintain teaching resources, preparing educational materials.

  • Employ positive discipline techniques at all times, promoting a respectful and inclusive environment.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate/Fundamental in Early Childhood Education or Special Needs Education, although not essential it is an advantage.

  • Be creative and inspiring, with a loving energy that resonates with children.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and classroom management skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues.

  • Familiarity with working curriculum documents, handbooks, and policy manuals, with knowledge of educational development.

  • Possess a passion for working with children with special needs, with a commitment to providing high-quality care and education.
