Kitchen Equipment Specialist

The primary objective of a kitchen equipment technician is to maintain, modify, troubleshoot, and repair various types of electric and gas commercial cold and hot kitchen equipment and appliances. This role entails inspecting and assessing equipment to identify potential issues, performing routine maintenance tasks, and implementing repairs as needed.
This position requires excellent technical knowledge of kitchen and refrigeration equipment, including walk-in chillers and freezers, industrial-sized steam cookers, refrigerators, ice machines, washers, combi-ovens, dryers, dishwashers, sandwich line, water coolers, and others. The successful candidate will be able to read and comprehend wiring diagrams, follow manuals on operation and installation, and apply various types of equipment safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work independently, and effective communication skills. They will be able to prioritize tasks, manage their time, and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of quality in their work.
Key responsibilities of the kitchen equipment technician include:
- Performing routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and servicing equipment.
- Inspecting and testing equipment to identify potential issues.
- Repairing and replacing defective or old parts.
- Collaborating with other maintenance workers, company officials, and staff to provide solutions to maintenance problems.
- Attending to emergency calls and providing timely assistance during off-hours, holidays, and weekends.
Requirements:
- Profound knowledge of kitchen and refrigeration equipment
- Strong soldering and blazing skills
- Ability to read and comprehend wiring diagrams
- Strong keyboarding and basic computer skills
- Refrigerant transition and recovery certification
- Repair and maintenance experience in the commercial kitchen or dining service field
- Strong knowledge of plumbing repair and installation practice and procedure
- Strong knowledge of basic electrical practice, theory, and safety
- Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of commercial refrigeration practice and theory
