Job Title: Commis Chef

The commis chef plays a vital role in the kitchen, working closely with other culinary professionals to deliver exceptional dining experiences.

  • Prepare and present menu items that showcase creativity and flair within set cost constraints.
  • Maintain efficient stock rotation and minimize food waste through effective inventory management.
  • Ensure mise en place is consistently available as required.
  • Store cooked and pre-cooked foods properly to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Order necessary ingredients based on business demands, consulting the executive chef for guidance and authorization.
  • Liaise with front-of-house staff regarding menu item availability, additions, and changes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in working areas, ensuring equipment is well-maintained, serviced, and cleaned. Report any issues to the executive chef.
  • Be familiar with other kitchen areas to provide assistance when needed.
  • Assist and liaise with the chef on duty as required.

Requirements:

  • Basic culinary training or relevant kitchen experience preferred.
  • Passion for cooking and willingness to learn.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and safety practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Physically fit and able to stand for long periods.
