Senior Environmental Planning Specialist

This role focuses on leading and coordinating efforts to develop comprehensive environmental planning strategies for the Greater Sentosa Master Plan (GSMP) and related projects. Key responsibilities include driving masterplanning work, formulating environmental parameters, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure balance between development and conservation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop holistic urban design strategies that cater to sustainable precincts and nature-sensitive developments within the GSMP.
  • Collaborate with technical agencies to oversee environmental planning works, ensuring alignment with national planning policies and broader GSW goals.
  • Formulate environmental parameters for infrastructure and developments across various phases of the GSMP, incorporating principles of ecological resilience and urban sustainability.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of Green and Blue Urban Design Guidelines, adaptive management strategies, and habitat restoration plans.
  • Lead environmental reviews of development proposals under the Environmental Impact Assessment framework, ensuring compliance with biodiversity conservation and urban planning regulations.
  • Oversee the execution of habitat restoration and enhancement projects to enhance ecological performance and track project success.
  • Implement robust environmental management processes to monitor outcomes and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate the establishment of development plans, considering strategic goals, appropriate development densities, transportation systems, heritage preservation, and green spaces.
  • Review tenancy submissions and redevelopment plans, integrating environmental considerations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to execute the masterplan vision, addressing long-term phasing timelines and interim uses.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, obtain necessary approvals, and manage regulatory clearances to facilitate balanced development and conservation efforts.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in environmental planning or impact assessment.
  • Professional certification in Environmental Impact Assessment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in software such as ArcGIS and environmental assessment tools.
  • Proactive approach, passion for biodiversity conservation, and strong analytical skills.
  • Experience in Singapore's planning framework and environmental legislation.
  • Development control processes, sustainable urban redevelopment principles, and environmental guidelines.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

This is a 3-year contract position.
