Job Title: Shipping Trade and Commodities Associate
Job Description:
As a key member of our global shipping and trade practice group, you will be part of an exciting opportunity to support stakeholders across the trading and maritime ecosystem.
Our team's expertise spans both contentious and transactional matters, with a strong presence in major maritime jurisdictions. We regularly service shipowners, charterers, and commodities traders in all legal matters arising from their trading, including but not limited to commodities trading and charterparty disputes, cargo claims, shipbuilding contracts, as well as Admiralty (wet shipping) matters involving collisions, salvage, and other high-value and complex cross-border disputes.
Our clients range from shipowners, charterers, and commodities traders to P&I clubs, brokers, and commercial marine insurers. As a valued member of our team, you will work closely with colleagues worldwide to deliver commercially driven solutions on complex shipping matters.
Key Responsibilities include managing caseload and/or supporting partners and colleagues on larger complex shipping, trade, and commodities disputes, analysing and applying legal principles and facts to derive technically sound, commercial strategies for complex cases, drafting and reviewing correspondence, reports, and litigation documents, maintaining caseload in good organisational shape, and developing an understanding of the client's and our wider business.
