Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Privacy Advisory Guidance: Offer expert advice on privacy regulatory matters throughout the APAC region to support the development of the Firm's privacy program in APAC and worldwide.
  • Review and Assess Products and Services: Conduct thorough reviews and assessments of products, features, and business activities against privacy requirements and standards.
  • Develop Privacy Design Requirements: Design and implement privacy design requirements and conduct oversight of their implementation.
  • Review Third-Party Vendors: Assess third-party vendors, partnerships, and data integrations from a privacy perspective.
  • Draft and Review Responses: Draft, edit, and review responses to data subject requests and data protection-related queries.
  • Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments: Conduct and support the conduct of data protection impact assessments and similar privacy risk assessments.
  • Draft Privacy-Related Disclosures: Draft and review privacy-related disclosures, including fair processing notices and cookie disclosures.
  • Provide Guidance on Evolving Laws and Regulations: Offer guidance associated with new and evolving privacy laws and regulations in APAC and support cross-functional projects to implement these changes.
  • Design and Implement Privacy Program Components: Design, review, mature, and implement privacy program components throughout the APAC region and worldwide.
  • Implement and Oversee Privacy Controls: Implement and oversee the effectiveness of privacy controls, privacy-enhancing technologies, and privacy risk mitigates.
  • Create and Review Privacy Program Policies: Create, review, and revise privacy program policies, procedures, guidance, and best practice documents.
  • Support Data Processing Records and Compliance Assessments: Support the creation of, and review data processing records and compliance assessments.
  • Develop and Deliver Privacy Training: Develop and deliver privacy and data protection training.
Requirements
  • Significant Experience in Privacy Regulatory Frameworks: Significant experience advising on privacy regulatory frameworks in the APAC region, with experience in other jurisdictions such as GDPR, CCPA, and GLBA being a plus.
  • Financial Services Experience: Financial services experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Governance Frameworks: Experience with developing and/or implementing governance frameworks for wide-scale use of cookies and similar tracking technologies.
  • Experience in Data Protection Office or Similar Function: Experience in a Data Protection Office, Privacy Risk, Privacy Compliance, or Privacy Legal function.
  • Experience with Direct Marketing and Online Behavioral Advertising: Experience advising on direct marketing and online behavioral and targeted advertising, including governance of these practices.
  • Experience with Data Subject Requests and Risk Assessments: Experience performing formal and informal risk assessments for new and existing digital products and services from a privacy regulatory perspective and handling nuanced data subject right requests.
  • Strong Relationship Management Skills: Strong relationship management skills with the ability to deepen relationships and build partnerships across the business, including in Operations, Compliance, Engineering, Legal, and Risk.
  • Comfortable Working Across Multiple Business Lines and Jurisdictions: Comfortable taking the initiative and working across multiple business lines and jurisdictions.
  • Understanding of Digital and Retail Focused Businesses: An understanding of digital and retail-focused businesses, including new and developing businesses.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional Accreditation: Certified Information Privacy Professional accreditation or similar accreditation preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Skills: Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Excellent, written and verbal communication skills; highly organized and sound organizational skills.
