Wildlife Nutrition Specialist

The Wildlife Nutrition Specialist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal health and well-being of animals in our care. This involves overseeing the procurement, preparation, and distribution of animal diets, guaranteeing compliance with hygiene, safety, and regulatory standards.
This position requires a deep understanding of nutrition strategies, food quality control, and evidence-based diets. The specialist will work closely with veterinarians, curators, and other departments to refine and implement nutritional programs that meet the unique needs of each species.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and team management skills, including recruitment, coaching, and performance evaluation. They will also have excellent planning and organizational skills to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Responsibilities:- Oversee daily operations of the wildlife nutrition center, ensuring optimal nutrition for animals.
- Manage procurement and inventory systems, maintaining compliance with regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement work procedures to improve productivity and efficiency.
- Collaborate with veterinarians, curators, and other departments to design and implement nutrition programs.
- Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of animal feed procurement and consumption.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a related field, preferably in wildlife nutrition or zoo operations.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, food safety, and animal welfare.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid Class 3 or 4 manual driving license.
