Demurrage Specialist Job Description
Job Title: Demurrage Specialist
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Demurrage Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for handling demurrage claims and performing timely calculations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and acknowledge claims and their supporting documents related to demurrage and other shipping ancillary claims.
  • Perform timely demurrage calculations for claims submission to suppliers and buyers.
  • Ensure timely responses to claims concerning demurrage and other issues to prevent expiry due to time bar.
  • Submit all valid claims within the designated time window.
  • Process and track claim payments and receivables from vessel owners, brokers, suppliers, and buyers.
  • Learn and understand contracts, shipping documents, and charterparty terms to facilitate negotiations and claims management.
  • Prepare monthly summary reports on the status of demurrage and ancillary claims for shipments.

Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering or Business (preferred), or at least a Diploma in maritime, logistics, supply chain, or related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience handling claims in oil and gas trading operations involving shipments.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet manipulation.
  • Proactive, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.
  • Well-organized and meticulous with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills.
