Key Responsibilities
- Guarantee safe, delay-free operation and compliance with flag state administration and applicable class and industrial standards.
- Monitor vessel deck and engine planned maintenance system to ensure cost-effective maintenance of LNG vessels and their equipment.
- Arrange statutory and classification surveys for vessels.
- Coordinate the supply of stores, supplies, spares, and consumables for optimal performance.
- Oversee repairs, defect rectifications, and modifications of vessels and equipment.
- Ensure adherence to company standards and charterer requirements for smooth operations.
- Assist in controlling and monitoring costs relevant to the technical department.
- Maintain and upkeep technical manuals, drawings, and catalogs from makers and yards.
- Attend shipyard and classification societies in technical matters.
- Verify documentation and certifications of new buildings/deliveries.
- Lead the accident/incident investigation related to technical matters such as equipment and failure/malfunction if required.
- Conduct annual vessel technical inspection/audit onboard as scheduled.
- Execute technical modifications for projects, including approval and certifications as necessary.
- Address technical troubles arising during projects and liaise with manufacturers if required.
- Plan and coordinate technical repairs during projects, including vessel docking as necessary.
- Resolve any defects that may affect the charter promptly.
- Participate in interviews and make recommendations regarding new hires and promotions.
- Monitor vessel performance and ensure follow-up action.
Requirements:
- 6 months experience as Chief Engineer or more than 3 years experience as senior engineer on LNG Motor vessels.
- A valid Engine COC holder.
- Knowledge of ISM, EMS, PMS, Repairs, and Dry-Docking repairs.
- Good technical knowledge about various marine machinery.
- A desire to drive continuous improvement in self and with others.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, time management, project management, and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrates teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of propulsion plant and power systems onboard assigned vessels.
- Preferable working experience with XDF vessels and overhauling skills of an XDF Engine and DF generators.
- Knowledge of cargo containment system, cargo handling equipment, and systems onboard assigned vessels.
