  1. Environmental monitoring is a critical function in the Microbiology Laboratory, responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products. As a Microbiologist - Environmental Monitoring Specialist, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing robust environmental monitoring programs to minimize contamination risks.
  2. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Operations, and Engineering, to design and implement effective cleaning and disinfection protocols. Your expertise will help us maintain a sterile environment for production processes.
  3. Perform routine and non-routine quality control checks on equipment, facilities, and utilities systems, inclusive of purified water, compressed air, and nitrogen systems.
  4. Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure that all sampling and testing procedures are accurate and reliable, contributing to timely delivery of high-quality products.
  5. Develop and conduct training programs for laboratory staff on proper sampling and testing techniques, emphasizing their importance in maintaining product integrity.
  6. Maintain comprehensive records of sampling results, test data, and environmental monitoring activities to inform continuous improvement initiatives.
  7. Liaise with vendors to select suitable microbiological media and other equipment necessary for routine testing.
  8. Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to provide expert guidance on good manufacturing practices (GMPs), validate new methods, and enforce regulatory compliance.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Microbiology or related field (science, general, or engineering). A postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
  • Proven experience in environmental monitoring, preferably in a GMP-regulated industry. Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines, such as cGMP.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling effective troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating collaboration with various teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, along with familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
