Geopolitical Correspondent

The Wall Street Journal is seeking a seasoned correspondent to cover the dynamic geopolitical landscape of Southeast Asia.

Located in the heart of this vibrant region, you will be responsible for producing high-quality, in-depth reporting on the evolving security dynamics and geopolitics of Southeast Asia.

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with editors and reporters to identify big targets for your reporting, produce enterprise stories, and develop novel ways to tell compelling stories through various media formats.

With strong enterprise-reporting skills and excellent communication abilities, you will be able to jump on news quickly, write stories cleanly, and conceive and execute deeply reported articles.

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with teams across geographies and bureaus, working on globe-spanning stories that require a deep understanding of the region's complexities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Produce high-quality, in-depth reporting on Southeast Asian geopolitics and security dynamics

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the region's complexities and key stakeholders
  • Conceive and execute innovative storytelling approaches, including multimedia and data-driven content
Qualifications:

  • Excellent research and interviewing skills, with the ability to extract valuable insights from complex sources
  • Strong communication and writing skills, with the ability to craft engaging stories for a global audience
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple projects and priorities
