Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counsellor to join our team. As a School Counsellor, you will work with staff, students, parents, external professionals, and community agencies to provide quality school counselling support for students' mental health and social-emotional development.

Your primary role will involve working closely with colleagues to develop and implement effective school counselling programs that cater to the diverse needs of our students. You will also be responsible for providing consultation, planning, and conducting training for staff and parents on pertinent mental health issues and skills for first-line intervention and support.

Additionally, you will evaluate and report to management on the state of student mental health in the school, and the effectiveness of the school counselling program. You will also be expected to network with relevant external professionals and community agencies to ensure seamless collaboration and support for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing suitable school counselling programs, including systems for needs analysis, early identification, and referral of students with mental health issues and social, emotional, and behavioural problems.
  • Advising management on school counselling matters and providing consultation and training for staff and parents.
  • Providing individual and group counselling to students, as well as conducting home visits where necessary.
  • Looking into the referral of students and their families to community resources or external professionals where needed.
  • Providing direct crisis intervention and follow-up to students affected by critical incidents.
Requirements

We are looking for candidates who possess a passion and disposition to work with students-at-risk, empathy for students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and awareness of and sensitivity to multicultural issues.

Candidates should also be resourceful and resilient, with at least one year of working experience, preferably in a related field. Experience working or volunteering with children and youths would be an advantage.

Applicants should possess a relevant counselling qualification, such as those recognised by the relevant professional associations. They should also have the fitness and resilience required to engage students safely and carry out their duties effectively.
