Senior Chemical Engineer - Waste Management

Job Description:

This is a senior-level position responsible for supervising and managing repacking, containment, ICW operations, and maintenance activities in the waste management department.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field and at least 2 years of relevant experience. They will be responsible for monitoring the safe process flow and backlog levels of TIW waste, ensuring staff are trained according to the On-the-Job Training program and follow safe work procedures and SOPs, and coordinating with operations, sales, and customer service teams to maintain high service quality.

Key responsibilities include tracking containment purchase budgets, promoting recycling of used containment to reduce costs, performing daily inspections of operations, checking plant 5S and TPM activities, and monitoring safety, equipment, and machinery. The successful candidate will also lead daily safety toolbox meetings, ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is adequate for all staff, review existing procedures and workflows to improve efficiency and throughput, implement continuous improvement and modification plans for optimal operations, and collaborate with lab chemists to evaluate and develop new treatment methods and procedures for new or unknown wastes.

Additionally, they will ensure compliance with EHS standards, support continual improvement of ISO, prepare and analyze daily and monthly operational records and reports, address any issues, and follow up with relevant departments. They will also compile annual operation and maintenance budgets for approval and monitor expenditures, work with operations and engineering teams to develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, conduct regular training for staff on safe waste handling, MSDS, PPE, and risk assessment, and activate the emergency response team and respond to spills or fire incidents as needed.

Requirements:
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
