About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced APAC Privacy Lead to join our Global Compliance team at Wise. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading our APAC regional privacy efforts and ensuring that our company's products and services comply with all relevant data protection and privacy regulations in the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Localise and Implement Global Privacy Transformation Program: Develop and implement a comprehensive privacy transformation program for the APAC region, ensuring that all relevant data protection and privacy regulations are met.
  • Partner with Business and Engineering Teams: Collaborate with business and engineering teams to design and launch innovative products and services for the APAC market, ensuring that they meet all relevant data protection and privacy requirements.
  • Advise on Privacy Aspects of Partnerships and Arrangements: Provide expert advice on the privacy aspects of Wise's platform partnerships and arrangements with partner banks and financial institutions, including contractual arrangements.
  • Support Expansion Activities: Support the expansion of Wise's products and services into new jurisdictions in the APAC region, ensuring that all relevant data protection and privacy regulations are met.
  • Oversee Privacy Compliance: Oversee privacy compliance for APAC entities and support reporting to APAC oversight committees and entity boards.
  • Support Global and Regional Audits: Support periodic global and regional audits of privacy compliance within Wise.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Evolving Regulations: Stay up-to-date with evolving data protection and privacy regulations in the APAC region and translate them into actionable business requirements.
Qualifications
  • Excellent Academic Credentials: Minimum of 8 years of experience in privacy, data protection, and data security, preferably at a top-tier law firm or in-house.
  • Strong Understanding of APAC Privacy Laws: Strong understanding of APAC data protection and data security laws, including experience in handling privacy inquiries, complaints, and incidents.
  • Experience in Privacy by Design: Experience in privacy by design and data protection impact assessments.
  • Experience in Dealing with Regulators: Experience in dealing with regulators in APAC on privacy matters.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Skills: Excellent written and verbal skills in English, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Admitted to Practice Law: Admitted to practice law in at least one APAC jurisdiction.
  • Problem-Solving Attitude: A problem-solving attitude, with the ability to use regulation together with data to drive business decisions.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to drive and deliver projects from inception to completion, timely and with attention to detail.
