Job Summary

SMITECH ENGINEERING PTE LTD is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technical Officer to join our team. As a key member of our facilities engineering department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our mechanical systems and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Excellence: Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks and ad-hoc repairs within deadlines, ensuring top-quality standards and optimal system performance.
  • Equipment Inspections: Conduct routine inspections of equipment, completing and submitting checklists promptly to the supervisor, and identifying potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures, ensuring timely submission of records and minimizing downtime.
  • Corrective Maintenance: Handle equipment breakdowns and submit relevant documents, working closely with the supervisor to implement fixes and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Issue Reporting: Report equipment issues to the supervisor and assist in implementing fixes, ensuring that all issues are addressed promptly and efficiently.
  • Operational Support: Support operational activities as required, including performing initial troubleshooting and reporting findings to the supervisor.
  • Contractor Supervision: Supervise contractors to ensure that their work meets our high standards, and report any anomalies or potential damages immediately.
  • Environmental Health and Safety: Maintain a safe, clean environment by following EHS procedures and reporting any hazards or incidents to the supervisor.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor and manage stock levels of parts and supplies, ensuring that we have the necessary materials to perform maintenance tasks efficiently.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other duties assigned by the supervisor, including supporting special projects and initiatives.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • System Condition Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments of mechanical systems to identify potential issues and recommend improvements.
  • Labour Estimation: Estimate labour requirements for complex mechanical installations, ensuring that we have the necessary resources to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Equipment Expertise: Develop expertise in assigned equipment, including mechanical systems, electrical systems, and other related equipment.
  • Leadership and Client Management: Demonstrate leadership and client management skills, working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve our goals.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactive, independent, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot on the spot.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, able to work well with non-engineering colleagues, and a positive mindset in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience
  • Diploma in Engineering: Diploma in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or industrial) and a minimum of 3 years' experience in facilities engineering or a similar field.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of fire alarm systems, vehicle barrier systems, and emergency response systems, as well as understanding of building regulations and health & safety.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving: Strong communication skills, able to work well with non-engineering colleagues, and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot on the spot.
