We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team at Careers@Gov. As a Data Governance Specialist, you will play a critical role in fostering a strong data culture and governance within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Products: Establish business and technical requirements to fulfill our analytics and reporting needs, shaping our data products to align with business objectives.
  • Data Services: Deliver the data strategy to grow data literacy and competencies within our organization, promoting the adoption of data-driven decision making.
  • Data Governance: Elevate our maturity in data governance to ensure data quality, proper usage, and compliance.
Responsibilities and Deliverables
  • Design and develop data literacy training programs.
  • Conduct regular briefing and training programs to improve data literacy skills, including data analysis, interpretation, and visualization, and create awareness on data governance policies and processes.
  • Curate and publish data contents, including data policies, processes, best practices, user guides, FAQs, etc., on internal wikis and communication platforms.
  • Monitor and report success metrics for various data programs.
  • Develop and maintain data governance policies and processes, including data sharing, data classification, and usage, data quality, etc.
  • Support the acquisition of external datasets.
  • Implement data catalog to manage inventory of our data assets.
  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance towards data policies.
  • Manage data sharing between our organization and other external parties.
  • Gather business and technical requirements and translate them into data use stories/chores and documentations.
  • Review and validate completed data user stories.
  • Design and develop engaging and intuitive data visualizations.
  • Provide advisory and support to data users.
  • Review data collection processes and propose improvements to enhance efficiency and data quality.
  • Act as moderator of the data community within our organization, and foster connections with the Whole-of-Government (WOG) data community.
Requirements
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • 1-3 years of work experience in Data Management and Governance, Data Analysis, Business Analysis, Project/Product Management, Policies, or related work (fresh graduates are welcomed).
  • Good communication and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and potentially changing priorities, while maintaining a high level of attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Singaporean.
Desirable Skills
  • Proficiency in SQL scripting to analyze, transform, and integrate data sources.
  • Experience in designing and developing data dashboards (preferably with Tableau).
  • Experience in gathering requirements and writing user stories.
  • Experience with agile or other rapid application development methodologies.
  • Experience in establishing data policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of data regulations and privacy requirements (e.g., PDPA, GDPR).
