Medical Laboratory Technologist Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing laboratory diagnostic procedures and providing quality service to internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Laboratory Diagnostic Procedures
  • Receive and reject unsuitable laboratory specimens.
  • Operate the Laboratory Information System for result query, order entry, and result entry.
  • Perform waived tests and moderate complexity tests according to laboratory protocols.
  • Alert critical values to appropriate personnel.
  • Report adverse incidents to senior staff.
  • Prepare reagents and materials for special handling.
  • Resolve customer queries.
  • Undertake preventive maintenance on laboratory instrumentation.
  • Notify personnel of instrument malfunctions and low supplies.
  • Perform shift duties as required.
  • Stay current with new instrumentation, techniques, and procedures through workshops and in-service education.
  • Carry out instructions from senior staff regarding work procedures and duties.
  • Comply with good laboratory practice and safety regulations.
  • Evaluate new laboratory test methodologies.
  • Demonstrate laboratory procedures to trainees and new staff.
  • Guide Laboratory Technicians, Clerical Staff, and Health Attendants in their work.
  • Participate in routine administrative tasks such as filling and processing orders.
