Process Engineer Job Description

Overview: The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department is seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join our Microelectronics Research Facilities.

The role involves designing, developing, and optimizing microelectronics manufacturing processes, including photolithography, etching, deposition, and related techniques. Evaluating and selecting materials, tools, and equipment for process development are also key responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop microelectronics manufacturing processes
  • Optimize existing processes to enhance efficiency, yield, and performance
  • Identify and address bottlenecks, defects, and inefficiencies in the production process
  • Plan and execute experiments to validate and refine new process methodologies
  • Maintain comprehensive records of experiments, processes, and results

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's or fresh Master's graduate degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a strong emphasis on microelectronics and semiconductor processing.

Demonstrated experience in developing and optimizing microelectronics manufacturing processes, including photolithography, etching, deposition, and other relevant techniques, is essential. Working experience in foundries, microelectronics research centers, and pilot lines will be an advantage.

Familiarity with cleanroom protocols, safety standards, and equipment operation is also required. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced research environment are essential.
