About Future Horizons Science and Technology Naturals

Role Overview

The New Naturals Science Principle Scientist will own the portfolio of science and technology partnerships for Horizon 3 Naturals and Green Science, building the approach to engage and advocate for evolving IP, regulatory, and medical landscapes. This role will also build and guide the Trusted Science in Horizon 3 Naturals and Green Science new API solutions for opportunities that could integrate Category/BU H3 opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Own and build the Horizon 3 new naturals and green science technology roadmap, setting the strategy for Haleon for the specific defined domain, owning the Technology Product Roadmap, delivering the prioritized building blocks within the roadmap, IP lead, and strategy for the defined domain.
  2. Build the enabling ecosystem H3 new naturals and green science, building and managing the external ecosystem for the defined domain, leading external leverage and technology acquisition/access strategy, supplier base innovation partnerships.
  3. Lead industry consortia and build advocacy plans for unregulated spaces, consortium access for new to industry solutions, new financial mechanisms to access for new technology solutions (internal and external), new approaches to engaging advocacy in unregulated spaces.
  4. Build new capabilities, identifying and building future-proof capabilities to support Haleon's future natural and green science spaces, leading internal vs external, physical vs digital, micro-lab to pilot scale up fit for purpose planning.
  5. Thought leadership, externally recognized as a leading voice/player in new naturals and green science with a clear influence strategy (regulatory and medical advocacy strategy, HCP networks, etc.).
  6. Facilitate knowledge exchange and collaboration within H3 naturals and green science platforms as well as more broadly across FHS&T.
  7. Actively facilitate networking and partnership activities with Categories and BUs.
  8. Build a network of functional experts within the broader CH R&D organization (e.g., FHS&T, Innovation Research, Category/BU R&D Leads, etc.) to support H3 naturals and green science opportunities.
Basic Qualifications
  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, or Biological Science.
  2. Degree in Herbal Medicines, Ayurveda, or traditional Asian Medicines would be an advantage.
Preferred Experience
  1. Experience in FMCG or Healthcare.
  2. Scientific research experience in extraction, standardization, characterization, authentication, mode of action, clinical, and pre-clinical experience of herbal ingredients or herbal products.
  3. Global experience in Consumer Science/Products Research (qualitative and quantitative research, consumer modeling, upstream/front-end consumer need definition, and downstream/product validation and claims substantiation).
  4. Expertise in Behavioral Science, Habit understanding, and new Habit formation.
  5. Expertise in developing novel methodologies.
  6. Excellent analytical skills, including strategic thinking, leadership, communication, and influencing skills, ability to lead change.

We also offer the opportunity to receive a discretionary bonus based on the achievement of key business performance and other incentive/recognition programs as part of the offering. The salary range for this role is: $121,168 to $163,933 plus an 18% bonus.
