About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Surveyor to join our team at Fugro. As a Senior Surveyor, you will be responsible for planning and executing positioning and navigation tasks and data acquisition on, and/or leading, projects of medium to high complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute positioning and navigation tasks and data acquisition on, and/or leading, projects of medium to high complexity.
  • Be ultimately responsible for all surveyor-related aspects of the project, including the correct offsets, measurements and calibrations of positioning equipment, the set-up and/or operation of survey equipment, carrying out computations and the compilation of survey reports and the appropriate QC of data, computations, and reports.
  • Solve complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist.
  • Propose improvements of research methods and quality systems.
  • Provide technical input for tenders, assist with the establishment and compilation of project procedures, and make recommendations, including any supplementary investigations.
  • Contribute to acquisition activities and take on tasks that have been escalated by more junior team members.
  • Have a university degree and in-depth knowledge and experience of the organisation, processes, and customers.
  • Often lead/coordinate the work of a small team and/or deputise the manager, but people management is not a focus.

Requirements:

  • Preference will be given to candidates who have proven offshore experience (5 years min) in either marine geophysical (analogue or digital) survey acquisition, or marine subsea construction / positioning – or preferably both.
  • It is expected that this would have been in support of the marine oil & gas, offshore wind farm, hydrographic, or submarine cable industries.
  • Previous on-line experience with Fugro NG and / or Qinsy navigation systems, and strong land survey capabilities are required.
  • Report writing skills are necessary, and some ability with data processing (positioning and soundings) would be preferred.
  • AUV mission planning experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong ability in verbal and written English (technical) language is essential.
  • Some Party Chief / Team Lead experience would also be advantageous.
