Weather Forecasting Specialist Role

The National Environment Agency seeks a Weather Forecasting Specialist to join its Weather Services Division. This position requires a passion for understanding and predicting weather and climate patterns.

This role offers opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in operational forecasting, data analysis, research studies, and product development.

Responsibilities
  • Operational forecasting with shift work, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Analyze data from computer weather prediction models and meteorological observation systems.
  • Conduct research studies to advance understanding and prediction capabilities in tropical weather and climate.
  • Design and develop weather forecasting tools and applications.
  • Develop and enhance meteorological products for stakeholders and customers.
Requirements
  • Honours degree in Physics, Mathematics, Engineering fields, Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Remote Sensing, Geoscience, or related fields.
  • Good command of spoken and written English and excellent communication skills.
  • Good knowledge in Information Technology, with working experience in scientific programming and development of applications.
  • Experience in working with remote sensing data and statistical packages or machine learning/deep learning algorithms.

The selected candidate will receive professional training in meteorology and opportunities to participate in international conferences and seminars.
