Cloud & Systems Engineer - #catalystWSP

Singtel, in collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Technology, has initiated a Work-Study Programme (WSP) known as "The Catalyst Programme." This structured on-the-job development programme allows Polytechnic Diploma holders to secure a full-time position with Singtel while pursuing a university honours degree in Applied Computing. The programme is open to both internal Singtel employees and external polytechnic diploma holders, with a preference for candidates from the ICT domain. Non-ICT diploma holders are also encouraged to apply. This initiative aims to build capabilities within the Singapore ICT sector by developing and nurturing talent over a three-year period, culminating in the completion of micro-credentials for each module that contribute towards an honours degree in Applied Computing. Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain practical experience in deploying, managing, and operating Public Cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google GCP, along with Singtel Private Cloud for our clientele. You will learn to provision and de-provision Cloud services/resources and deploy Cloud Infrastructure in accordance with industry best practices.
  • Become acquainted with SAN storage administration, collaborating with leading providers such as EMC, HP 3PAR, and Huawei. Additionally, you will gain insights into managing backup solutions like Avamar, CommVault, and Veritas.
  • Acquire knowledge of IT Service Management methodologies utilized in Managed Service Management, including Change Management, Incident & Problem Management, Release Management, Asset Management, and Capacity & Availability Management.
  • Learn to monitor system health, troubleshoot root causes of issues, and implement corrective actions to enhance performance and availability.
  • Recognizing the significance of security in the IT landscape, you will learn about security standards and best practices, ensuring the protection of our systems and data. You will also participate in remediation efforts to address any identified security vulnerabilities, fostering an environment conducive to your growth while preventing security breaches.
