Job Summary:

A Data Governance Specialist plays a vital role in developing and implementing data management structures to ensure the integrity, security, and accessibility of data within an organisation.

This position is responsible for creating robust data governance frameworks, defining data quality standards, and establishing comprehensive documentation practices to maintain consistency and clarity across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have experience in data governance principles, policies, and procedures, with strong communication skills to engage stakeholders effectively and manage residual risks related to data security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement data management strategies aligned with government policies and standards.
  • Formulate plans to harmonise Customs' data schema and metadata catalog.
  • Develop structures, documentation, and processes to enhance discoverability and comprehension of data within Customs and across the Whole of Government (WOG).
  • Facilitate secure data-sharing within Customs and with other organisations.
  • Provide guidance on data documentation practices and ensure adherence to data governance policies during data acquisitions.
  • Assist in resolving data governance issues in analytic projects.

Requirements and Skills:

  • Minimally an A-level or Polytechnic graduate.
  • Experience in data governance principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Familiarity with data regulations and related enforcement and audits.
  • Strong communication skills to engage and manage stakeholders effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various teams, including legal, IT, analysts, and business and data owners.
