Job Title: Senior Research Scientist Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the operation of state-of-the-art analytical facilities and conducting multidisciplinary research into volcano-tectonic interactions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate advanced analytical labs.
  • Maintain instruments and order consumables.
  • Reconstruct magma storage depths and conditions for various volcanic systems and relate them to local tectonics.
  • Assess the current state of one or more potential caldera reservoirs using petrology, geophysics, and/or modeling.
  • Reconstruct the temporal evolution of magma reservoir properties at one or more potential caldera systems.

Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. degree in Earth Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field is required.
  • Experience in operating LA-ICP-MS independently is desired.
  • Experience in operating EPMA, FEG-SEM, Raman, or FTIR microanalytical techniques is desired.
  • Experience in processing petrological and/or geochemical data sets is strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated expertise in petrological modeling with a desire to develop skills in complementary fields is desired.
  • Fieldwork experience may be beneficial but is not required.
  • A strong track record of publishing research relevant to the position in Tier 1 journals is essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are required.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team is crucial.
