Main Purpose:

To provide strategic legal guidance and support to the business in the APAC region. This involves advising on contentious, transactional, and regulatory matters across the entire portfolio of commercial trading activities.

The scope includes providing advice on physically and financially settled oil, oil products, bulk commodities, non-ferrous concentrates, refined metals, power, and carbon.

Additionally, we are looking for a legal professional to provide additional support as necessary in connection with ancillary elements of the business, including banking finance, structured trade finance, exchange trading, and the transportation, warehousing, and storage of commodities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the markets we serve and be able to make supply more efficient, secure, and sustainable.

  • Provide strategic legal guidance and support to the business
  • Advise on contentious, transactional, and regulatory matters
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify key legal risks
  • Develop effective strategies to mitigate risks
  • Work closely with the Global Legal Team to provide excellent legal service
Required Skills and Qualifications:

We are seeking a highly skilled legal professional with a strong background in:

Legal professional qualification with at least 7 years post-qualification experience

Credible private practice experience in a relevant jurisdiction (UK, Singapore, Australia, or New Zealand)

Preferring experience with complex high-value contentious matters in the commodity trading context

Preferring in-house experience in a trading or equivalent commercial environment, with international and cross-border experience

Broad range of legal skills

Good IT and organizational skills

Excellent command of the English language
