About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cancer Support Specialist to join our team at Ain Society. In this role, you will provide essential care and support to adult cancer patients, focusing on their psycho-social and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Client Support: Provide personalized support and assistance to clients depending on their needs, including newly diagnosed patients, those receiving cancer treatment, palliative/end-of-life care, and survivors.
  • Psycho-Social Support: Offer emotional support and guidance to clients and their caregivers, helping them navigate their cancer journey.
  • Resource Linkage: Connect clients with relevant resources and services, such as financial assistance, food, transportation, mobility equipment, and medical supplies.
  • Community Partnerships: Foster strong relationships with community partners to ensure continuity of care after referrals.
  • Counselling and Referrals: Refer clients for counselling, spiritual or mental health support as needed, and provide information or coordinate psychoeducation from medical/healthcare practitioners.
  • Communication and Advocacy: Maintain regular communication with clients and caregivers, assess their coping mechanisms, and advocate for their needs.
  • Documentation and Administration: Document case recordings and maintain accurate records, while also carrying out assigned administrative duties.
Requirements:
  • Educational Background: Degree in Counselling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience: Demonstrated experience in case management and supporting individuals impacted by illnesses/multiple adversities.
  • Skill Set: Possess warmth and empathy when interacting with clients, with an interest in supporting individuals/families from lower socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Adaptability: Open to working with clients of various age groups and willing to travel for home visits.

As a Cancer Support Specialist at Ain Society, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for adult cancer patients. We offer a competitive salary of $65,000 per annum, commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
