Position: Manufacturing Engineer

Job Purpose:

The main objective is to transform raw materials into finished goods in the most effective, efficient, and cost-effective manner for the manufacturing operations. This encompasses planning production processes, investigating technical literature for innovative metallurgy techniques, and creating tools, processes, and machinery to yield high-quality products while minimizing capital investment. Furthermore, the emphasis is on the design, management, and regulation to enhance both casting and machining operations. The ideal candidate should have a keen interest in technical expertise and the capability to spearhead continuous improvement projects. This role also entails new product development, cost-saving initiatives, and the integration of automation technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain process work routing.
  • Establish production and inspection methodologies.
  • Assist in engineering advancements in metallurgy and machining processes.
  • Identify, devise, and execute manufacturing processes and productivity enhancement projects. Supervise processes and strive to optimize the production workflow.
  • Lead, prepare, and execute the First Article part process, including documentation packages.
  • Drive and manage continuous improvement projects to minimize cycle time.
  • Enhance processes to reduce cycle times and ensure quality consistency for existing products, alongside developing new offerings.
  • Utilize simulation software in the creation of new processes.
  • Oversee equipment, including routine testing and ensuring maintenance tasks are performed.
  • Prepare CNC programs for part machining processes and design machine fixtures for casting machining.
  • Collaborate with other departments regarding the delivery requirements of customer orders.
  • Provide guidance and support to operators in milling, turning, grinding, and honing machining processes.
  • Exhibit a technical inclination to plan, design, set up, modify, optimize, and monitor manufacturing processes.
  • Stay informed about current and emerging trends in the manufacturing sector, both domestically and internationally.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc tasks as assigned periodically.

Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to Head of Engineering

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in precision casting processes preferred.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with Mastercam, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and NC programming.
  • Experience in process planning, including jig and fixture design and tool application.
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written in English and Chinese).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to enhance processes to reduce cycle times and ensure quality consistency.
  • Technical inclination to plan, design, set up, modify, optimize, and monitor manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of non-destructive testing (FPI, X-ray), heat treatment, and machining processes.
  • Familiarity with data analytics for cost reduction.
  • Recent graduates with a strong learning attitude and passion for technical knowledge are encouraged to apply.

Technical Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Proficient in computer applications (including a good command of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of SAP is advantageous
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal and written in English and Chinese)
