Special Education Teacher Role

The position of Special Education Teacher is pivotal in an interdisciplinary team, providing high-quality learning experiences to students through the best possible curriculum execution.

This involves guiding the teaching team, partnering with family members, allied professionals, and community stakeholders, engaging in reflective practice, and continually seeking to innovate and enhance teaching and learning practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver Curriculum Excellence
    • Develop engaging and well-paced lessons, considering diverse learner profiles of students
    • Implement lessons using evidence-based pedagogy and meaningful activities to meet individual students' educational needs
    • Proactively facilitate and manage students and the learning environment to enhance motivation and behavior, creating opportunities for learning
  • Foster Student Development
    • Build strong relationships with students, providing physically, emotionally, and socially safe environments to enhance care and facilitate learning
    • Formulate data-based, student-centered Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for all students and support attainment of IEP goals through strategic implementation, partnered with families/caregivers, allied professionals, and relevant stakeholders
    • Design and implement positive, robust classroom routines and practices to create and maintain a safe, conducive learning environment and foster student development and well-being
  • Cultivate Collaborative Learning
    • Work in partnership with allied professionals and internal stakeholders for effective planning and execution of development strategies for the student
    • Work in partnership with family members to support student learning across school, home, and community
    • Manage communications with families to support students and/or school initiatives
  • Contribute to Programme Development
    • Maintain and monitor client records related to programme utilization according to organizational requirements
    • Ensure adherence to the health and safety policy and proper storage and maintenance of equipment for safe use
    • Assist in enhancing students' learning experiences
