Job Title: Field Safety Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Safety Specialist to join our team. As a Field Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our personnel and equipment in remote and harsh environments. Your primary responsibility will be to assess and mitigate risks associated with field operations, provide guidance on safe practices, and conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards.

You will work closely with our science teams to develop and implement safety protocols, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and provide training and support to personnel on safe working practices. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of safety incidents, near misses, and recommendations for improvement.

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in outdoor education and leadership, with experience in technical mountaineering and guiding in glaciated alpine environments. You should also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, biology, ecology) preferred.
  • Certifications: Wilderness First Responder certification and Incident Command System (ICS) 100 and 200 certifications required.
  • Experience: Minimum of four years of experience in outdoor education and leadership, with at least two years of technical mountaineering and guiding in glaciated alpine environments.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
