Community Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Community Support Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating synergies and leveraging local resources for community development.

  • The ideal candidate will conduct environmental scans to identify community strengths and assets, fostering a collaborative approach to development.
  • They will engage with residents to understand their needs and concerns, promoting a cohesive community environment.
  • By building strong relationships with community members, local associations, and institutions, the Community Support Specialist will ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • They will mobilize volunteers to support community initiatives, providing resources and guidance as needed.
  • The successful candidate will recruit and manage a team of volunteers, ensuring a reliable and skilled pool for various programs.
  • Conducting volunteer orientation sessions, they will ensure all volunteers understand the organization's code of conduct and expectations.
  • Identifying and collaborating with stakeholders, the Community Support Specialist will support program implementation, including corporate partners, community partners, and volunteers.
Requirements
  • Degree in any discipline.
  • No prior experience required; however, experience in community development and volunteer management is an added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Possesses a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable families and individuals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Good writing skills and comfortable with data collection and analysis for reporting purposes.
  • Empathetic towards the needs and challenges of vulnerable populations.
  • Reflective and motivated to enhance personal effectiveness and efficiency at work.
  • Flexible and able to work on some weekday evenings and weekends, as needed.
