LKC is a renowned research institution at Nanyang Technological University, Main Office HR. Our team focuses on investigating the interactions between climate and air quality, and the resultant impacts on public health and ecosystem.

The Air Pollution and Health team under Assoc Prof Steve Yim explores the mechanisms that drive climate-air quality interactions and evaluates their impacts on human exposure, mosquito abundance, and soil acidity.

We are particularly interested in examining the effects of sectoral emissions and transboundary air pollution at multiple spatial scales, studying regional climate change due to land-use changes and global climate change, and assessing the impacts of air pollution on respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.

In addition, our team assesses and develops emission control scenarios to provide scientific-based policy solutions for a sustainable environment in present and future years.

Responsibilities:

The position will be required to develop and apply modelling techniques to simulate the spatial distribution of air pollutants in a city at a high spatial resolution. This involves collecting data from various aspects, processing it, developing and applying models, and conducting data analyses.

The position is also responsible for documenting model development and results in reports and peer-reviewed international journals, as well as completing tasks assigned by their supervisor.

Requirements:

  • A master's degree in atmospheric science/geography/meteorology/environment
  • Experience in developing spatial models, especially land-use regression models or machine learning
