Role Profile

The Operating Theatre Technician is a vital member of the surgical team, responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of procedures.

They are accountable for preparing the operating room, sterilizing equipment, and assisting medical staff to guarantee the technical setup is safe and effective.

This role plays a crucial part in maintaining a high standard of care during operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up surgical instruments and equipment before procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is sterilized and functioning properly.
  • Transport patients from the Operating Theatre to Recovery Bay or vice versa.
  • Assist during operations with positioning and draping.
  • Bag and clear all general and biohazard waste.
  • Check and maintain OT equipment.
  • Manage OT inventory and restock supplies.
  • Clean and prepare the OT for the next procedure.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Hold a Certificate/Diploma in Operating Theatre Practice or a related healthcare field.
  • Possess a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in a surgical setting.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of surgical instruments, endoscopy systems, and sterilization techniques.
  • Exhibit good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Show strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail.
