Job Title: Therapy Assistant Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated therapy assistant to support our team of therapists. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the preparation and setup of treatment areas, as well as providing support during therapy sessions.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in preparing patient before, during and at the conclusion of a treatment session.

  2. Prepare and set up facility, environment and clinical or therapy equipment, including technology-related therapeutics.

  3. Clean up environment and equipment after therapy session.

  4. Perform other preparations before or after therapy sessions as required by the department or supervising therapist.

  5. Transfer patients with minimal, moderate and maximum assistance as needed.

  6. Assist therapist during assessment or re-assessment of patients.

  7. Assist therapist during outcome measures.

  8. Monitor patients during therapy activities.

  9. Assist therapist during delivery of therapy plans for patients.

  10. Set up and apply selected therapeutic modalities, splints or devices under supervision.

  11. Implement segments of one-to-one therapy interventions under supervision of the therapist.

  12. Make individualised hand splints and pressure garments where necessary.

  13. Assist with wound care management where necessary.

  14. Assist therapist during caregiver training sessions.

  15. Assist therapist during group therapy sessions.

  16. Set up technology-based/robotics intervention.

  17. Demonstrate ability to receive patient related precautions and session details from primary therapist.

  18. Demonstrate ability to communicate results of assessments and/or therapy session to primary therapist.

  19. Demonstrate ability to terminate session and escalate to primary therapist when necessary.

  20. Communicate assigned work or tasks that exceed acceptable scope of practice or training to senior professional staff.

  21. Evaluate safety procedures at all times.

  22. Maintain inventory control and adhere to infection control/hygiene standards of therapy equipment and devices.

  23. Assist in maintenance and simple repair of therapy equipment.

  24. Check and maintain equipment, linen and clinic inventory.

  25. Record and verify sales of appliances and consumables.

  26. Maintain and distribute patient education materials and clinical supplies.

  27. Assist in performing audits such as billing, sales items, equipment movement, etc.

  28. Perform other administrative duties as deemed appropriate by the department or supervising Therapist.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Patient care skills.

  • Ability to lift heavy objects.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Able to follow instructions accurately.

  • Reliable and punctual.
